Best Friends

Carter sure does love his sister.  He's become quite familiar with the concept of a  "best friend" as we have read books and watched his favorite shows.  Yesterday as Carter was trying to cuddle Quinn and smother her with hugs, he looked up at me and said, "Mommy, Quinny is my best friend!  Like Lightning and Mater!"  It's adorable how much he loves his little sister.  He is extremely protective of her and is always very excited to see her.  Tonight when Chris got home and greeted Carter excitedly, he responded, "Daddy, be quiet, Quinny is sleeping!"  Chris and I both looked at each other and laughed.  I guess all that reminding to use an inside voice when Quinn is napping is finally paying off.

Happy Boy!

4 Months

Quinn is already four months old and boy do I love this little girl.  I was thinking about what makes this age so great and then I remembered, oh right...it's because she smiles constantly, sleeps for 12 hours at night, and loves to cuddle.  It's really hard not to love someone who is SOOO loveable!

At four months Quinn:

  • Has the sweetest personality--she really does smile constantly!
  • Is ticklish and loves to giggle.
  • Has light blue eyes and is getting more and more blondish/brown hair each day.
  • Is starting to sit unassisted and is close to rolling from back to tummy.
  • Opens her hands and reaches for toys.
  • Has started putting everything in her mouth.
We love our little Quinny!

Red Sox v. Yankees

We had a blast at Fenway last night watching the Red Sox BEAT the Yankees!  It was a great way to continue Chris' birthday celebration, especially with the Sox playing so well.  Thanks to Katie for getting us such great seats and for enduring a big loss by her favorite team and still being chipper as ever!

Happy 34th Daddy!

Birthdays have become a special event in our house now that Carter understands how fun they are.  We celebrated Chris' 34th with decorations and blowing out candles (mostly for Carter's benefit) and pulled chicken and homemade macaroons (for Chris' benefit.)  It was my first time making the macaroons so I wasn't sure how they would come out, but thankfully they were delicious!  Next time I'll work on making them look as good as they tasted!

Happy Birthday to the best scrambled egg maker, baby burper, and Carter tickler!  We love you!!!

I Love to See the Temple

I've been spending some time teaching Carter about the temple lately so for our family home evening activity we decided to visit the Boston Temple grounds.  Carter was so thrilled as we came over the hill and saw the temple's spire.  He kept saying, "Temple, Temple!  Tall, tall, temple!"

As we walked the grounds, we found two baby bunnies eating the grass and Carter was ecstatic!  While he enjoyed the flowers and seeing the temple in person, he loved chasing the poor bunnies.  He had such a positive experience that now every tall building we see is a temple to Carter.  Our drive on the river today with the Boston skyline was a huge hit!  "Lots of temples, mommy! Lots of tall, tall, temples!"  Well, sort of buddy.  I'm just thrilled he's thrilled about it.

Catching up with Quinn

Mickey Mouse...

 is a great buddy!

Preschool!

Although he won't officially start preschool until January, Carter had an introductory day this past week. He naturally gravitated toward the train table and he had a blast with lots of friends.  Let's hope he's still excited about school once January rolls around!
