New tricks

Just in the past week or so, I've noticed significant progression in Carter's ability to understand commands and follow them correctly. One new "trick" is folding his arms for night time prayers.  This was especially gratifying as I have often questioned whether anything from our prayer time routine was sinking in.  Apparently it is!  Even if Carter is jumping in his crib the entire prayer, he does knows what he should be doing!

Yesterday I asked Carter if he wanted a snack.  His ears perked up so I directed him to go into the kitchen from the family room, get a fruit snack package from the box, and bring it to mommy.  He immediately left the room, got the snacks, and brought them to me!  Such a simple thing, but it definitely blew me away.

Our little guy is growing up!  He is talking more and more and recently added "fish" to his vocabulary (as in gold-fish crackers). Food apparently is the best motivator for getting Carter to speak!

Central Park Zoo

The Bear Takes NYC

Highlights include...

Meeting Henry and taking a ride in his double stroller

Taking a picture with Mickey Mouse in Times Square

Parading around the hotel like a disco king

Spilling a Shake Shack milkshake all over

 Passing out in the stroller

Exploring the NYC subway system

Visiting the 9/11 Memorial Site

And eating Pinkberry with dad!

We had a great weekend in the Big Apple with the Kearleys and Claytons! Carter was a trooper with the travel and I survived two planes rides with him on my own.  We wore out little bear and he came home and slept for 15 hours!  It was a fun family trip for all!

14 Months

Remember this guy?

Carter was 5 weeks old when this video was taken.  Today he's 14 months old!  It's fun to see how much has changed since he was born and also how much has stayed the same.

Things that Carter is obsessed with lately include:
  • Talking to dada on mama's cell phone (while holding the phone himself with it glued to his ear)
  • Meatballs and tomato sauce
  • Bubbles, parks, and being outside
  • Unlocking the front door (or trying to)
  • Playing in the car (the trunk is most preferred)
  • Going into the bathroom by himself and closing the door with the lights on or off
  • The Burlington Mall play structure
  • Screwing on and off bottle caps
  • Chasing others and being chased
  • Tablets, computers, phones...any electronic device really
  • Playing with other kids
  • Water...in the bath, the pool, anywhere!
  • Daddy!
In other news, Carter is getting his 2nd molar.  Poor little guy is in some pain but he's handling it like a champ!
