Christmas Eve 2013

Disney on Ice

Carter had a blast watching some of his favorite Disney characters ice skating at the Disney on Ice show.  It was a great date with my little guy whose enthusiasm makes everything so fun.  Of course Carter wanted a new Mickey toy as soon as we arrived, but after the show he insisted that we pick up a Minnie toy for Quinny.  I couldn't say no to such a thoughtful request so now we are the proud owners of both a Mickey and a Minnie Disney on Ice figurine.  Thanks for a great date, Bear!

Gems from December

Carter says, "Mommy, I'm comfy and warm!" Unfortunately, this is truly necessary to stay warm in our house these days.

Quinn always knows how to distract Daddy when he's trying to work.  C'mon dad, let's do the Heisman pose!

Lego Success

Carter completed his very first lego with daddy last week.  I couldn't tell who was having more fun...but my guess is that it was daddy.  I see many more lego projects in our future!

Ready for Winter

Santa Time!

Our visit to Santa was a success, although you wouldn't know it from the pictures!  Carter was initially terrified of Santa even though we talked about it for weeks prior and even rehearsed what Carter would say to him.  Fortunately, Carter warmed up to Santa after he asked Carter if he liked cars and trains.  Carter immediately lit up and said, "I want a Mater Fire Truck!"  His delivery wasn't exactly what I would have hoped for, but Carter was able to get his point across.  When Santa pulled out the candy canes, Carter happily sat on his lap and posed for a couple photos.

We are thrilled the Christmas season is upon us.  It's especially fun now that Carter is old enough to understand the holiday and be enthusiastic about it.  Each day he walks through the house announcing that, "this is the best Christmas ever!"  Let's hope it is!

Thanksgiving 2013

We hosted a delicious Thanksgiving dinner this year and thanks to Chris it was a huge success.  Despite the tasty turkey and trimmings, Carter opted for meatballs and peas, while the rest of us feasted on a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.  Grandma and Grandpa Nelson made the trek in from California, Ian's family joined us, and our good friends, the Moffats, finished off the crew.

Our little turkey enjoyed her first Thanksgiving with lots of attention from family & friends.

The day was cold, but beautiful!

We have much to be grateful for this year!  Happy Thanksgiving!

6 Months

For her six month birthday, Quinn got her first two teeth!  We were pretty surprised to find them in her little mouth this week because she didn't show any signs of teething or discomfort, but nonetheless the teeth have arrived! Our little lady is growing up too fast!

Family Pics 2013

This year our family photo session went a little something like this:

Needless to say it's getting harder and harder each year to get a good shot of everyone looking and smiling at the camera at the same time!  Fortunately, our trusty photographer, Carolyn Moffat, was still able to work her magic despite two unwilling participants.

Fall

There's nothing I enjoy more than a good run on a beautiful day.  Today I ran with both kiddos in the stroller and it was so refreshing.  Quinn loves to be outside and see new things and Carter was thrilled by the gas station we passed on our route.  He was so excited and wanted to make sure I saw it too so he called up to me from the stroller saying, "Look! Mommy, there it is!  A gas station!"  At first when he said, "there it is, " I thought he had seen something really remarkable so I was a bit surprised when I realized what it was he had seen.  I love his enthusiasm for the little things though.  It makes me realize we have so much to be thankful for and that even the mundane things in life can be exciting.

First Playdate

These two were born just a few weeks apart and seem to be great friends already.  We can't wait to see this little friendship blossom as they get older and older!  Thanks for playing, Cambelle!

Red Sox Victory Parade

We couldn't have had a better day celebrating the Red Sox's World Championship victory with what seemed like everyone in Boston and the players too.  Carter thought the parade was a little loud, but overall he enjoyed it.  Quinn was pleased as punch by all of the action.  The weather was absolutely perfect and it made me remember why I love fall in New England so much.  Let's hope we can celebrate again next year!  Go Red Sox!

A Day in the Life Of...

Quinny:

Smiling, charming mommy, and growing growing growing.

Carter Bear:

Wearing jammies until lunch, playing legos, and exploring the galaxy as Buzz Lightyear.  After he finished this animal castle he turned to me and said, "Mommy, it's perfect!"  Yes indeed, buddy.

Happy Halloween!

Carter and Quinn dressed as friendly little monsters-- Sulley and Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc.  Ellie was an adorable cowgirl!  Carter and Ellie were partners in crime collecting lots of goodies and smiles as we trick-or-treated and Quinn enjoyed the action riding along in the front pack with Mom.

Quinn sported the skeleton onesie on all of our daily errands and was pretty thrilled about it!  Carter couldn't be convinced to wear his costume all day, but he was excited about it once it was time to get treats!  We love Halloween!  Can't wait for another fun night next year.
